According to the announcement shared with Bitcoin.com News, Securitize‘s collaboration with Wormhole allows tokenized assets to seamlessly move across various blockchain networks. By leveraging Wormhole’s interoperability technology, issuers using Securitize can enhance the flexibility of their digital assets, making them more accessible to a broader range of investors.

This development highlights a growing focus on public blockchains and the potential for enhanced liquidity and faster transactions. “Tokenized securities need to thrive on public, permissionless blockchains to unlock the potential of blockchain technology,” Carlos Domingo, the CEO and co-founder of Securitize explained.

The Securitize executive added:

This partnership with Wormhole will help enable sub-second, sub-penny transactions and move us into an increasingly cross-chain ecosystem, showcasing yet another example of how public blockchains enable new use cases that had previously been unavailable.

Securitize works with top-tier asset managers, such as Blackrock, Hamilton Lane Investcorp, KKR, and others. Securitize is a fully licensed and regulated SEC-registered broker-dealer and digital transfer agent, FINRA member, and SEC-regulated Alternative Trading System (ATS). It is the second entity under Ondo in terms of tokenized U.S. Treasuries minted onchain with $526.58 million. It works with Blackrock’s BUIDL tokenized fund which has a market valuation of $521.91 million as of Sept. 20, 2024.

At press time, the RWA value locked on blockchains is $11.95 billion and tokenized Treasuries equate to $2.22 billion in onchain value. This integration is expected to increase institutional adoption of tokenized assets by providing secure, cross-chain communication. Securitize will incorporate its own smart contracts to meet regulatory requirements, while Wormhole’s open-source protocol will support secure messaging and transfers. The partnership aligns with Securitize’s compliance expertise and Wormhole’s mission to support decentralized finance (defi) solutions.
