Two managers from the now-defunct crypto fraudulent investment platform Omegapro were arrested in Istanbul, according to Turkish media reports. Dutch executive Robert Velghe was arrested Tuesday, following the July arrest of Swedish co-founder Andreas Szakacs. Omegapro, founded in 2018 and registered in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, allegedly defrauded investors out of $4 billion by offering unrealistic returns. French prosecutors are investigating after a complaint was filed in February on behalf of nearly 2,000 victims for fraud, breach of trust, and deceptive practices. Omegapro had promised returns of up to 300% over 16 months. The platform collapsed at the end of 2022, freezing funds, and its website vanished in July 2023 before investors could recover their money. Instead, they were offered to reinvest in a new venture, Go Global. French clients reportedly lost several hundred million euros.
