100 days after MiCAโs full application kicked in, it's time for another update. Hereโs the latest snapshot from the ESMA interim registers (link in comments):
๐ 11 entities across 6 EU countries (๐ซ๐ท ๐ฑ๐บ ๐ณ๐ฑ ๐ฒ๐น ๐ซ๐ฎ ๐ฑ๐น) are authorized to issue e-money tokens (EMTs) โ i.e. single fiat-currency-backed stablecoins
โ 16 EMTs issued so far:
โข 10 euro-denominated
โข 6 dollar-denominated
๐ 15 MiCA-authorized CASPs (Crypto-Asset Service Providers) from 6 EU countries (๐ฉ๐ช ๐ณ๐ฑ ๐ฒ๐น ๐ฑ๐บ ๐จ๐พ ๐ช๐ธ)
โ Germany (6 CASPs) is leading the way with Malta closely behind (5 CASPs)
โ Offering services in trading, custody, execution, exchange, transfers, etc.
โ Notable TradFi entrants: BBVA, Clearstream, Flatex
โ Strangely, some Dutch firms previously listed (MoonPay, Hidden Road, Zebedee, Bitstaete) are now missing from the interim register.
๐ Still 0 (!) authorized ART (asset-referenced token) issuers
๐ 15 firms listed on the non-compliant entity list by Italyโs CONSOB
๐ ~25 white papers notified for crypto-assets that are neither EMTs nor ARTs
โ Mostly covering major tokens like BTC, ETH, etc.
Without a MiCA license, thereโs no passporting of services across the 30 EEA countries โ thatโs why the industry is moving fast. The race is on to gain market share.
๐
Next update at the 6 months mark at the end of June โ stay tuned.
