BlackRock receives approval from the UK FCA to register as a cryptocurrency company According to DL News, BlackRock has received approval from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK to officially become a registered cryptocurrency company. This means that the company will be able to operate its newly launched European Bitcoin Exchange Trading Product (ETP) as a UK entity. According to the updated list on the FCA website on April 1st, BlackRock became the 51st company to obtain this qualification, tied with companies such as Coinbase, PayPal, and Revolut. It is worth noting that FCA's approval rate for cryptocurrency companies is only around 14%, and the agency has explicitly stated that it will reject applications that lack key evaluation elements or do not meet material quality standards. This approval paves the way for BlackRock to promote iShares Bitcoin ETP in Europe.
