Comedian and actor TJ Miller stated that the average person only needs a little over two days to understand Bitcoin (BTC). However, when asked why more celebrities do not become Bitcoin supporters, he mentioned that most simply refuse to sit down and learn again.
“It’s very difficult to get people to continue learning after they graduate, regardless of their level of education,” Miller told Natalie Brunell on the Coin Stories program aired on April 25. Miller claimed that understanding Bitcoin requires “about 50 hours of study time.”
“So when you tell someone it takes 50 hours to understand this, they’ll say, ‘Ah, I don’t want to learn,’” he said. “They can’t even finish a Netflix series, not even a show like ‘The White Lotus’ that only takes 7 hours to watch,” he added.
Miller stated that accepting Bitcoin requires “a complete shift in thinking,” which involves not just money or the internet, but a change in lifestyle—this is also why it’s rare to see Hollywood celebrities become extreme supporters of Bitcoin:
“Hollywood only rewards those who play by the rules.”
At a Bitcoin lunch hosted by cryptocurrency entrepreneur Anthony Pompliano, Miller introduced himself as “the only celebrity Bitcoin supporter” to his knowledge.
“I really can’t think of anyone else,” Miller said. While there are not many celebrities publicly active in the Bitcoin community, in recent years many have launched their own meme coins, including Iggy Azalea, Caitlyn Jenner, and Hailey Welch, who goes by the nickname "Hawk Tuah."
However, Miller mentioned that he has been working hard to educate people about Bitcoin. He said that when Bitcoin was trading between $8,000 and $12,000, he advised friends to “invest $1,000 in Bitcoin.”
Miller believes that at some point in the future, Hollywood will definitely make a movie about the Bitcoin revolution.
“But it will be interesting because this revolution is not something that happens overnight,” he said. “This isn’t something that happened in 3 years; it’s still ongoing even after 10 years, so it will be interesting to see how they weave these stories together,” he added.
Cointelegraph reporter Gareth Jenkinson recently interviewed TJ Miller, and it was clear that his passion for Bitcoin goes beyond the surface. He hopes to use his influence to educate and inspire others to take Bitcoin seriously.
“You can see that I’m passionate about this. So what I want to do is… become someone who can elevate cultural awareness, spread awareness, and become a trusted name and face in the Bitcoin community, hoping to attract more people to join in,” Miller said.
