China's law on "marital rape" is simply absurd!
The legal definition of rape is "forcing a woman to engage in sexual intercourse against her will," but a more accurate definition should be "forcing a woman to engage in illegal sexual intercourse against her will." Sexual relations within marriage are protected by law and are considered legal behavior; therefore, sexual acts against a wife's will within marriage are more appropriately classified as domestic violence rather than rape.
Rape, as a serious crime, causes multiple harms to the victim: physical trauma, psychological trauma, damage to the concept of chastity, and irreversible effects on social status. However, sexual acts against a spouse's will within marriage, aside from potentially causing physical harm (such as tearing), typically do not involve equivalent damage to chastity, psychology, morality, or social status. Equating marital sexual behavior with stranger rape only highlights the arbitrariness of the laws in this country and the abuse of power!
